    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know what size shower door I need for my opening?

A: Ordering the correct size shower/tub door is extremely important for a proper installation. Measuring must be done after the tile or finished wall material has been installed. Check to ensure that your walls are plumb and that your shower base/tub or flat surface shower floor is level. Please refer to our “Finished Wall Dimensions” page for measuring instructions. DreamLine has many models that will work with out of plumb conditions while others are more specific and require plumb walls for installation. Please read the Product Description for out of plumb requirements for the shower door you are interested in.

Q: Where can I purchase the plumbing fixtures or tile shown in the pictures of your shower doors?

A: The plumbing fixtures and tiles shown in the pictures are not a specific manufacturer’s product and are used as graphic representations only. At this time, DreamLine does not manufacture plumbing fixtures or tile products.

Q: What should I use to clean my DreamLine shower door?

A: We recommend removing water with a glass squeegee or soft cloth after each use to avoid water spots. Clean your door with a soft cloth and a mild soap, such as a liquid dish soap. Do not use any abrasive or harsh cleaners.

Q: What does frameless and semi-frameless mean?

Q: What size shower base do I need for my shower enclosure?

A: All of our shower enclosure models that have matching shower bases will be 2 inches smaller than the corresponding shower base to allow for proper installation. For example, if you are looking at a 34x34 inch shower enclosure, the corresponding shower base will be 36x36 inches.

Q: Are your shower doors reversible?

A: Most DreamLine doors are reversible. However, a few doors are specifically made for left or right installation. The products that are not reversible will specify the installation side within the specifications. Feel free to contact our Customer Support technicians with any questions you may have.

Q: Can I purchase just the hardware for this shower door?

A: At this time, hardware is not available for individual sale.

Q: Can I purchase just a stationary panel from “model x”?

A: At this time, glass panels are not available for individual sale.

Q: What is the difference between a pivot and a hinged shower door?

A: A hinged door is attached directly to the wall or stationary glass and opens like an interior door in your house. Hinges attached directly to walls require studs behind the finished walls. A pivot door has a pivot assembly that is attached to a wall profile system that is attached to your finished wall. The pivot assembly attaches to the glass at the top and bottom much like a refrigerator door. It does not require studs behind the finished walls for installation.

Q: What is a bypass sliding door?

A: Two glass doors that slide to bypass each other to allow access from either the right or left of the shower space.

Q: What are the differences between bypass and sliding shower doors

Q: Do any of your models have a protective glass coating?

A: Yes, most of our doors feature ClearMax glass protection which helps prevent the buildup of hard water and lime scale. Check out our product pages to see if ClearMax is included.

Q: Will the shower base from “brand X” work with your shower enclosure?

A: Most square and rectangular shower bases will work with our shower enclosures. However, DreamLine's Neo-Angle and Quarter Round shower bases are specifically designed for our Neo-Angle and Quarter Round shower enclosures. Please keep in mind that the shower base is approximately 2 inches larger than the shower enclosures. This is because your base is installed to your studs, while the shower enclosure is installed to your finished walls.

Q: What are the differences between Unidoor, Unidoor Plus, Unidoor Lux, and Unidoor-X?

A: The Unidoor can be a single moving glass door or a moving door and stationary glass panel combination. The moving door panel is attached to the wall with hinges and the stationary panel is attached to the wall by a wall and glass profile system. The wall profile is 2" wide and is attached to your wall. The glass profile is first attached to your glass, then you slide this panel into the wall profile. You adjust the panel to your width and plumb specifications this way. The Unidoor has the ability to be adjusted within a 1” range. The Unidoor is a semi-frameless unit. The Unidoor Plus is a moving glass door attached to the wall with hinges and a glass panel attached to the wall with a "U-Channel". The "U-Channel" is a metal frame, 1"wide and the stationary panel slides into it, giving a more frameless look than the Unidoor. The Unidoor Plus has the ability to be adjusted within a ½” range only. The Unidoor Plus is a semi-frameless unit. The Unidoor Lux is a moving glass door attached to the wall with hinges and a stationary glass panel attached to the wall with “wall brackets". Wall brackets look very similar to hinges, but they do not move. The Unidoor Lux is a completely frameless unit with no out-of-plumb adjustment. It is required that your finished opening be a whole number measurement only. Please note: The Unidoor, Unidoor Plus, and Unidoor Lux require double studs or wood blocking behind your finished wall where the door hinges will be mounted. The Unidoor-X features a glass panel, referred to as a hinged panel, mounted to the wall that the moving panel is then installed to. Depending on the size of your opening, there may be a stationary panel that the door closes to. The Unidoor-X is adjustable up to 1/2" on the stationary side, with 1/4" out-of-plumb adjustment on the hinged panel side. The Unidoor-X does not require studs behind your finished walls for installation.

Q: What are the differences between Aqua, Aqua Ultra, Aqua Lux, Aqua Uno, Aqua Swing, and Aqua Fold?

A: The Aqua has 1/4" thick glass. The moving door has hinges that attach to a stationary panel and the panel is attached to your wall by a wall and glass profile system. The wall profile is a 2" wide metal channel that the stationary panel slides into, making the Aqua a semi-frameless unit. The Aqua does offer the fullest range of out-of-plumb adjustment (3/8”). The Aqua Ultra has 5/16" thick glass. The moving door has hinges that attach to the stationary panel and the panel is attached to the wall with a "U-Channel". The "U-Channel" is 1" wide and the stationary panel slides into it, giving a more frameless look than the Aqua, but with only a 1/4” of out-of-plumb adjustment. The Aqua Ultra is a semi-frameless unit. The Aqua Lux has 5/16" thick glass. The moving door has hinges that attach to the stationary panel and the panel is attached to the wall with "wall brackets". The Aqua Lux is a completely frameless unit with no out-of-plumb adjustment. The Aqua Uno and the Aqua Swing are tub doors. The Aqua Uno is a single panel of glass that is attached to the wall with hinges and does not offer any out-of-plumb adjustment. The Aqua Uno opens outward. The Aqua Swing is also a single panel and is attached to the wall with a wall profile system, allowing for 3/8" out-of-plumb adjustment. The Aqua Swing is designed to open inward and outward. The Aqua Fold is DreamLine's innovative folding and pivoting door, available in both tub and shower models. The Aqua Fold features two panels that fold inward and that can then pivot outward for full access to you tub or shower. Attached to the walls with a wall profile system, the Aqua Fold has 3/8" adjustment for out-of-plumb conditions. Please enlarge the photos on your computer monitor for the models you are considering to clearly see all the features.

Q: What are the differences between Enigma, Enigma-X, Enigma-XT, Enigma-XO, Enigma-Z, Enigma Air and Enigma Sky?

A: The Enigma has superior 1/2" thick glass. The door has an effortless sliding operation with large quad wheel assemblies on a Stainless Steel track. The Enigma must be mounted on a solid surface or reinforced base and requires a 3 3/4” threshold. The Enigma is a completely frameless unit with no out of plumb adjustment. The Enigma-X has premium 3/8" thick glass. The door has an effortless sliding operation with large dual wheel assemblies on a Stainless Steel track. The Enigma-X requires a 2 3/4” threshold on the shower base. The Enigma-X is a completely frameless unit with no out of plumb adjustment. The Enigma-XT requires the exact installation requirements as the Enigma-X. The distinctive styling of the hardware with its Satin Black accents separates the Enigma-XT from the Enigma-X. The Enigma-XO is DreamLine's latest addition to the Enigma product family. The Enigma-XO combines Enigma-X's 3/8" thick glass and Enigma's large quad wheel assembly, while matching the installation requirements of the Enigma-X. The Enigma-Z has premium 3/8" thick glass. The "barn style" door has an effortless sliding operation with large dual wheel hardware assemblies on a Stainless Steel track. The Enigma-Z requires a 2 3/8” threshold on the shower base. The Enigma-Z is a completely frameless unit with no out of plumb adjustment. The Enigma Air has premium 3/8" thick glass. The Enigma Air features a stainless steel, square upper guide rail which imparts a cool, urban design. Like all doors in this series, the rollers offer effortless operation, there is no adjustment for out of plumb conditions, and it is able to be trimmed up to 4" for width adjustment. The Enigma Air requires a minimum threshold depth of 2 1/4". The Enigma Sky is a more recent addition to DreamLine's Enigma product family, and has the same installation requirements as the Enigma Air. The Enigma Sky also includes DreamLine's patented SafeClose and SafeStop elements for reliable and secure operation.

Q: What is a wall profile, and how is it adjustable?

A: A wall profile is a metal channel that the stationary panel slides into after the glass profile has been attached to it. The ability to make adjustments for width and out-of-plumb conditions comes from the depth of the wall profile and how far in you slide the stationary panel.

    Q: What is a U-Channel profile?

A: The U-Channel is a metal channel that is 1” wide. The U-Channel system holds the stationary panel and only allows for 1/2" of width and out of plumb adjustment while offering a more frameless look.

Q: What if I have questions about installing my DreamLine shower door?

A: Our Customer Support Team is ready and waiting to help! Feel free to contact us Monday-Friday 8am-6pm EST at 888.524.3349 or email us at support@usbathstore.com.

Q: How do I know if my wall is out of plumb?

A: DreamLine recommends placing a 4-foot bubble level on your finished wall to check for out of plumb conditions.

Q: Do your shower doors adjust for out of level threshold conditions?

A: DreamLine shower doors have no ability to adjust for an out of level shower base or tub.

Q: How are your shower doors adjustable?

A: Models that have the ability to adjust for width or out of plumb will have that noted in the Product Description section of each product page. The ability to adjust for width and out of plumb is within the wall profile system or the U-Channels, depending on the model. Please read the Description field carefully for this information.

Q: What are the differences between your Neo-Angle models?

A: The Prism product line features 3 models with varying degrees of adjustability and installation requirements. The Prism is our pivot model that allows for 3/8" adjustment per side for out of plumb conditions and width. The Prism does not require support bars for the stationary panels. The Prism Plus is a hinged shower enclosure that allows for 1/4" adjustment on each side for out of plumb conditions. The Prism Plus comes with DreamLine's patented L-Bar support brackets for unobstructed structural support. The Prism Lux is also a hinged shower enclosure, but with no ability to adjust for out of plumb conditions. Your walls must be plumb for a successful installation of the Prism Lux. We recommend that you enlarge the photos on your computer monitor to clearly see the features and differences among the models. All of our Neo-Angle shower enclosures will work perfectly on a DreamLine SlimLine Neo-Angle shower base that is approximately 2" larger than the size of the shower enclosure.

Q: What is DreamLine's warranty coverage?

A: DreamLine provides a Limited Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty for all glass shower doors, enclosures and tub doors in Chrome, Brushed Nickel, Polished Stainless Steel and Brushed Stainless Steel. Doors and enclosures in Oil Rubbed Bronze and Satin Black come with a Limited 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty. All SlimLine shower bases come with a Limited Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty. Acrylic Backwalls come with a 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty. Warranties are constrained to the original installation and owner. More information is available on each product page.

4 Practical Tips For Preventing Spots on Your Glass Shower Door

    Glossary/Key Terms

Anodized Aluminum – An environmentally safe electrochemical process that converts the aluminum metal surface into a porous aluminum oxide creating an end product whose finish is more durable and element-resistant.

ANSI – American National Standards Institute is an independent association of trade organizations, technical societies, professional groups and consumer organizations which establishes and publishes standards at the national level. ANSI helps to assure the safety and health of the consumers and the protection of the environment. Accreditation.

Anti-Splash Threshold – Prevents water spills (See Dam Strip).

Backwall (aka Shower Wall) – Economic alternative to tile made from acrylic.

Bracket – Hardware clip that is installed to support and secure stationary panels.

Bi-Fold – Doors that fold in the middle, usually having one end in a fixed position while the other runs along a guide rail. It is similar to a telephone booth door.

Bottom Roller – Supports the weight of the door and rolls on a track or bottom guide rail.

Buttress – Any horizontal surface with stationary glass that rests higher than the curb of the shower.

Bypass – A shower system that uses two sliding pieces of glass. The doors slide on a track behind or in front of each other so you can gain access to the shower from either side.

Dam Strip – A low-profile, semi-round water strip that is positioned on the threshold beneath the door to help prevent water leaks.

Enclosure – Sits against two walls as opposed to three.

Finished Wall – Wall either covered with acrylic or ceramic covering, ready to receive shower door.

Frameless Glass Design – Within the shower industry, frameless refers to any shower door that doesn’t have metal adhered to the edge of the glass. Frameless doors can have brackets on stationary panels, hinges, handles, a header or a u-channel on the stationary panel.

Full Length Magnetic Door Latch – A magnet the full length of the shower door that ensures proper closure of the shower door.

Guide Block – A block that is installed at the bottom of a shower/tub door that guides or keeps a sliding door in-line with either the stationary panel or another door.

Guide Rail – A track or rail designed to control the movement of an object, such as a door. Top or bottom part of the sliding shower door or enclosure structure that provides support and/or acts as a track for the roller wheel assemblies for sliding shower door models.

Hardware – Any component used to assemble and/or support the shower door.

Hinge Side – The side of the door where the hinges attach.

In-Line Stationary Panels – Fixed/stationary panels that are “in a line” or the same vertical plane as a door.

Inline panel(s) – A glass panel directly beside and on the same horizontal plane as the shower door.

Integrated Glass Shelves – Provides additional support to stabilize a stationary panel, preventing it from vibrating when opening and closing the shower door.

L-Bracket – A bracket shaped like an “L” that provides support for a stationary panel. It attaches to the wall and to the top of the stationary panel glass.

Notched Panel – A stationary glass panel with a cutout, usually to accommodate a tub deck or buttress.

Out-of-Plumb – Any surface condition with greater than 1/16” out-of-vertical line or out-of-square.

Pivot – A supporting system for a swing door where the rotating mechanism attaches to the top and bottom of the door.

Pivot Bars – A top and bottom bar installed at the door opening that stabilizes the panels and attaches the top and bottom door pivot system.

Pivot Door – A shower door that rotates on an axis by two metal pins that pivot on the top and bottom of the door. The weight of the door is supported by the bottom pivot while the top pivot acts as a guide.

Plumb and Level – “Plumb” is the measurement of the vertical level and “Level” is the measurement of the horizontal level. The level’s “bubble” must be centered between the lines in the vial to be considered plumb or level.

Return Panels – Stationary panels that are installed at 90deg or 135deg in relation to the door. Secured in place with support bars, wall profiles or wall brackets, and bottom brackets.

Rough Opening – Preliminary measurement between unfinished walls or studs usually referenced for shower base or back wall installation.

Seal Strip – Any plastic strip used to prevent a shower enclosure from leaking. Attached between doors and panels, between the door and the wall, beneath the door and the sill, etc.

Semi-Frameless Glass – Frameless door glass that is hung with perimeter framing only (i.e. Flex, Infinity, Duet, etc.)

Shower Base (aka Shower Floor, Shower Pan, Shower Tray) – Part of the shower where you stand. Serves as the water basin for water to drain. DreamLine bases are made from sturdy acrylic and fiber glass reinforcement.

Silicone Caulk – A translucent caulk product used to seal the edges and seams of shower enclosures. Its main function is to prevent leaking. Some silicone products have a mildew-resistant additive to keep it clean and relatively transparent over time.

Stationary Panel – A fixed panel of glass that does not move, open, or close.

Strike Side – The side of the door with the handle, opposite of the “Hinge Side”.

Support Arm – Provides additional support to stabilize a stationary panel, preventing it from vibrating when opening and closing the shower door.

Support Bar – Used to secure a stationary glass panel to the wall and to prevent glass deflection.

Sweep – The strip that snaps onto the bottom of a door panel and seals the space beneath the door, also deflects water cascading down the door glass back into the shower or tub.

Tempered Glass – Heat-strengthened glass that has a safe breaking pattern. A rapid heating and cooling process makes tempered glass four times stronger than non-tempered glass. Once a piece of glass has been tempered, it cannot be cut. In the event of breakage, tempered glass fractures into small particles which do not form sharp edges. All DreamLine tempered glass is ANSI Z97.1 certified.

Threshold – A narrow, elevated surface of Tile, Marble, Granite, Acrylic base, etc., that forms the bottom of a shower opening. The surface on which a shower door or enclosure would be mounted.

Trim-to-Size Design – DreamLine sliding door design allows for width adjustment by trimming the top and bottom guide to a specific size.

U-Channel Profile – A U-shaped channel that supports stationary panel glass. May be installed to the wall and/or threshold.

Wall Bracket – A clip that stabilizes a stationary panel by attaching it to the wall.

Wall Profile (Outside) – Aluminum extrusions or profiles used to secure panel glass.

Water Seal Strips – Plastic extrusions that are used to seal a shower door or enclosure.

Wheel Assembly / Roller Assembly – Hardware system installed to the glass that allows door to slide. Can be suspended or supported by a track or guide rail.

    Questions/Answers
Q: Can I cut 50 - 54 inch guide rails down an extra inch to 49" which is my finished opening width? I know it says can be adjusted up to 4 inches but seems like cutting them down by 5 inches should still work, panels will overlap 1 additional inch. Thanks.

A: You are correct that the panels will overlap that additional inch, but the access width will decrease by that additional inch, bringing that down to appx. 19.5". Thank you!

Q: How many boxes is it when shipped and how large are they? Need to know for picking it up.

A: This model will come in 2 boxes - 1 for the glass, 1 for the hardware. It will ship on a pallet, but once you remove the boxes from the pallet, the glass box is the largest and widest of the 2 boxes. The glass box will be approximately 29"(w) x 78"(l). The Hardware box will be approximately 12"(w) x 78"(l). Thank you!

Q: Is this door compatible with this model of your shower pan? DLT-1132600-88? Thanks.

A: The 60" Encore shower door is compatible with the 60" wide single threshold shower base as long as your walls meet the conditions for out of plumb that the Encore accommodates (1/4"). We strongly recommend installing your base and finishing your walls, then checking the walls for plumb before ordering any shower door. Thank you!

Q:How long are the towel bars?

A: For the 44-48" Encore shower door, the towel bars are approximately 16-3/4" long. Thank you

Q: Glass is streaking how do you clean the glass

A:The Encore panels have ClearMax on one side only, so you will want to make sure that the side with ClearMax is installed towards the inside of the shower. For cleaning, we recommend mild dish soap and warm water. The best defense against spotting and streaking is to remove the water after showering with a squeegee or soft cloth.

Q: What is the width of the side frame of Dreamline Encore Semi Frameless 50" - 54" Shower Door? Also, any other models recommended to have side frame width of at least 1 or 1.5"?

A: The metal wall profiles (channels) for the DreamLineEncore shower door are approximately 2-1/8" wide. For bypass shower doors, the Encore is the only model we offer in a 50-54" width range.

Q:Can you substitute the charisma handles on this door?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have handle options for our stock shower doors, such as the Charisma.

Q:Do you have a bypass door in 3/8"?

A: We currently do not have a 3/8" bypass shower door, but there are plans for one to be released later this year.

Q: What size is the shipping carton for the Encore 56-60 inch shower door?

A: The Encore shipping package is appx. 76" by 38" by 10" in size.

Q: can you remove the Encore sliding doors without lifting the upper trac

A: No, you cannot remove the panels without lifting the upper track because the panels are in a guide block and must be lifted above the guide blocks.

Q: Is it possible to have a left side open on this door? Meaning, can the door handle on the outside of the door be on the left side? We are working with a small space and if the handle is on the right hand side, the toilet will block access.

A: Both panels of the Encore are able to move, so you can place the outside panel on either side of the opening. DreamLine recommends that the inside panel be on the same side as your shower head whenever possible, to limit the possibility of leaking.

Q: Water keeps getting on the floor do you have anything to prevent

A: There is a bottom rail piece that blocks water and prevents it from leaking out.

Q: The thinnest measurement of the base of my tubs is 2". The base is an oval shape so it does fan out slowly to several inches.. Is this center 2" going to be a problem?

A:The Encore requires 2-1/4" of straight threshold for installation. That 2" measurement along your tub is concerning and is not enough for the Encore to install successfully.

Q: Is the width on the Encore 44-48 exactly 48"

A: The 44-48" Encore shower door will come to you designed to fit a 48" opening. It can be adjusted down by cutting the upper and lower rails. It cannot extend beyond 48", however.

Q: Is it possible to purchase and use the Infinity-Z towel bars on the Encore? Or another line. I'd like them to be less angular. Thanks!

A: Unfortunately, we are unable to mix hardware among models and they are not sold separately. We also do not recommend purchasing aftermarket hardware to use on our doors as they could compromise the installation and will void your warranty on the product. The shape of the handles on the Encore is designed to work with the design of the upper rollers.

Q: I purchased a Dream line Encore shower doors. I am half way through it and I lost my instructions. What do I need to do to get another book let. Can u fax them to me?

A: A link to the Encore manual is at the bottom of the Product Description section of this page. Go to the 'Downloads' section and click on 'Installation Manual'and you will have the most current manual on your screen.

Q: Suggested/Best Practice for properly & safely cleaning the ClearMax glass?

A: DreamLine recommends using mild, liquid dish soap and warm water to clean our products. Please do not use anything caustic, abrasive, or ammonia-based to clean our products. While the ClearMax™ protective coating helps to keep your glass sparkling, the best defense against water spots and soap scum is to remove the water from the panels after showering, using a squeegee or a soft cloth.

Q: I have up to 1/4” the mounting walls can be off? Correct

A: The Encore will accommodate for up to 1/4" of out of plumb per side.

Q: Can you confirm that this shower door ( Model: SHDR-1648760-04) does not require that you to drill a hole in the shower curb to affix the Bottom Guide Rail assembly to the shower curb?

A: The door's guide block no longer requires it to be drilled into the threshold

Q: I have approximately a 53" opening. What would the center overlap be with a DreamLine Encore 50-54 in. width?

A: The overlap of the glass will be appx. 2-1/4" when installed to a 53" opening.

Q: How wide are the wall profile (tracks) on encore door?

A: The wall profiles on the Encore shower are 2-1/4'' wide.

Q: For door SHDR-1648760-01, I want to confirm the 3/8" out of plumb allowance is per wall correct? And not the total of both walls? Also, since I have shower heads on both walls, is there a wiper or seal available to prevent water from escaping beteen the

A: You are correct that the 3/8" out of plumb accommodation is per side. We do not have a vinyl sweep to use with this door to accommodate for dual shower heads. The most we can advise is to angle the shower head that is opposite the inside panel away from the door just a little but. We do not recommend adding any aftermarket strips to the door and doing so will void the warranty on the product and can compromise the installation.

Q: Does the Encore 56 to 60 in. x 76 in. Semi-Frameless Sliding Shower Door in Chrome have ClearMax water and stain resistant glass coating on both sides of the glass?

A: The panels of the Encore have ClearMax on only one side, which should be installed facing into the shower. There will be a ClearMax sticker on the side that has the ClearMax applied to it.

Q: How does it seal water in center and on each end. Does it leak anywhere?

A: The sides are covered by a wall profile to accommodate for any out of plumb and to block leaking. There are no strips on the middle of the door as we recommend that the inner panel be on the side of the shower head to eliminate leaking.

Q: I have a shower stall with 32x60 pan, the threshold is 2.5 inches thick. What model of door should I consider. I know some of your model have requirement for threshold thichness

A: With a threshold width of 2-1/2" deep, you have many options! The Encore shower door only requires 2-1/4" of threshold, so that would work well for you. We also have the Infinity-Z, which only requires 1", but that is not a bypass shower door like the Encore. The Infinity-Z is configured with one stationary panel and one moving panel. Another option would be a Mirage-X, which requires only a 1-1/2" threshold, but again, it is a sliding door with a stationary panel.

The Encore is a bypass door. The only other bypass door that would fit in your threshold is the Charisma Bypass door, but it requires plumb walls. Please check your walls for plumb before making your selection.

Q: My shower is 60 3/4 inches wide. Will the 60 inch shower sliding door work? Alternative?

A: If your finished opening width is 60 3/4", unfortunately, no a 56"-60" bypass sliding door model will not fit your opening. The largest finished opening width the model will fit is 60". Also, due to hardware restrictions, we do not offer a bypass sliding door model designed to fit a finished opening width larger than 60". If your walls are plumb/ perfectly straight, we may have a sliding door model that can be customized to fit your opening through our Custom Glass Group. However, we do offer hinged and pivot door models in our core product line designed to fit a finished opening width of 60 3/4".

Q: What products or chemicals should be avoided when washing glass with ClearMax protection

A: DreamLine recommends that you not use anything caustic, abrasive, or ammonia-based to clean your shower panels. Nothing more that mild liquid dish soap and warm water is needed. The best defense against water spots and soap scum is to remove the water after showering with either a squeegee or a soft cloth.

Q: What are the framing requirements (behind the shower walls, 2x4s)? Does it just require a single 2x4 in the wall behind the tile where the rail will attach? I want to be sure that I have the proper support before I install my tile.

A: While studs behind finished walls are always preferable, the Encore Shower Door does not require any special studding or reinforcements behind your finished walls.

Q: The Encore is basically the same size as the Essence and Charisma line. What makes the Encore weigh so much more than these other two lines. I'm worried about being able to handle the Encore during installation.

A: The Encore does have more hardware than the Essence or the Charisma. Keep in mind that you will not be moving the whole thing at one time, but will be moving it in pieces. DreamLine does recommend that our products be installed by professionals, so you may want to consider that, also. Hope this is helpful.

Q: I have a cast iron tub. Does the bottom track have to be screwed into the tub? Or can it be held in place with a good caulk sealant?

A: Yes, the Encore Shower Door does have to be screwed into the tub along the threshold. Please consult with your tub manufacturer for advice on drill bits, etc.

Q: We have a walk in shower and do not want a track at the bottom. Do these shower doors have a track at the bottom?

A: The Encore shower door does have a bottom guide rail, unfortunately. All of our bypass doors will have a bottom rail for the panels to travel through. Our sliding doors that have a stationary panel with a moving panel will have the most trackless look. The Enigma-X, Enigma-Z and Enigma Air models all have a small anti water strip across the threshold that is optional to install. Should you choose not to install the threshold strip, we would advise you to be aware that there is the possibility of water escaping if your threshold area is not pitched inward enough. Hope this is helpful.

Q: When you open the door, how much room remains between two doors? I want to install grids which are 3/16 ' think and I wonder if it would be a problem when opening s door.

A: DreamLine does not recommend the addition of any hardware to our doors, and doing so will void your warranty on the door. DreamLine shower doors are designed and engineered to very exacting standards and the addition of hardware such as "grids" can affect the performance of the door.

Q: What model/models do you sell in a 60”x76” for converting a standard bath/shower to a shower that is frameless model with the double/bypass shower doors? I want 3/8” thick glass and easy cleaning. Does the Charisma or Essence fit the bill? Thanks

A: The DreamLine Encore, Charisma, and Essence are both beautiful shower doors and would certainly work for you. They are 5/16" thick glass however. In fact, all of DreamLine's bypass models are 5/16" thick glass. All of these doors feature our ClearMax coating on the glass for easy cleaning.

Q: How can you tell which side of glass door has Clear Max coating on it? Thanks

A: The Encore Shower Door only has ClearMax coating on one side of the glass. There is a ClearMax sticker on the glass indicating which side the protective coating is on.

Q: How do I care for glass & chrome finish on my new Ensore shower door system?

A: DreamLine recommends using liquid dish soap and warm water for cleaning your shower door. The best defense against water spotting and soap scum is to remove the water after showering with a squeegee or soft cloth. Hope this is helpful.

Q: My shower is about 49 inches, which is too big for the 48” model. Can I cut the top and bottom rails of the 50”- 54” model to fit the width of my shower?

A: Great question! Yes, you can cut a 50" to 54" model down to 49", but please be aware that your walk through opening will be 1" smaller and the overlap of the glass will be greater. Your walk through opening will be appx. 18-1/2" wide.

Q: Is the finish on the chrome door a polished (shiny) chrome or is it a dull/brushed chrome? I want it to match the chrome fixtures.

A: Great question! DreamLine's Chrome finish is definitely shiny. Our Brushed Nickel finish is dull or matte, without any shine to it. Hope this helps.

Q:is this a semi frameless shower door? that is,, is there a frame around the glass itself?

A: There are no metal frames on the glass panels.

Q: Is this shower door compatible with the dreamline slimline shower base? I noticed in the installation guide it calls for screwing the bottom track to the threshold.

A: The Encore Shower Door is absolutely compatible with DreamLine shower bases. DreamLine Shower Bases can be drilled into with no problem.

Q: I have a tub now finished wall are 60 in long and 30 3/4 in deep i want to tear it out and put a shower in the right side is 30 3/4 in deep but the left side is 25 3/4 deep because of a window what can i do as far as a door for this any help

A: Given these restrictions, it sounds like one of the Aqua Series of doors will work for you. Your shower don't be able to accommodate a door that attaches to both walls due to the window, so the contemporary, European styling of the Aqua would work well since it attaches to just one wall.

Q: It says it is frameless, but it looks like it has rails at the top and bottom. Is this ADA compliant?

A: The Encore does have rails at the top and bottom that it needs to slide on. The glass itself is frameless. This door is not ADA compliant.
