Ella’s Lay Down 30” x 60” is a vacuum formed from a solid acrylic sheet. Under the shell is a stainless steel frame reinforced with fiberglass mesh and gel coat layers. The frame also has multiple leveling legs that can be adjusted for easier installation and stronger support. The non-porous material in a white gloss finish is easy to clean and impermeable to mold and mildew.

The main feature is a tempered glass inward swing door with a brushed finish aluminum frame. The sleek door is designed in the center of the tub, which establishes a vertical tub wall and creates a wider interior floor space as opposed to that of a standard curvature wall. This, along with a low step-in threshold and textured floors, may reduce the chances of tripping and slipping when standing in, showering, and entering/exiting the tub.

The Lay Down 30” x 60” comes with our Single 2” Drain with an emergency pull-up chain, consisting of two 2” outlets and an overflow. Note: The Lay Down 30” x 60” does not come with a faucet. The Hydro Massage System includes a hydro pump with an in-line water heater, an eco-friendly ozone sterilization system, hydro massage intensity dial control, and a strategically positioned hydro jet system for targeted and effective massaging. Ella’s Lay Down 30” x 60” has 8 hydro jets in order to deliver optimal therapeutic relief. These jets provide relief to your back, hips, thighs, feet, and calves.

Warranty

The limited lifetime warranty of parts is nontransferable and applies only to the original customer living at the address of the installation. The warranty relates to all fittings and components including the bathtub shell, frame, motors, pumps, fixtures, electronic controls, faucet, drain, and overflow. The warranty of the door and door seal is only valid if the alignment of the bathtub and the door is done correctly, and the alignment of the door is not affected by the bather’s weight applied to the door, which may result in misalignment of the door and/or a water leak. The plated finish may be covered by the limited lifetime warranty under normal use and conditions, however, the warranty does not apply to a finish that is fading, cracking, delaminating, blistering, or scouring due to excessive wear, sun fading, or cleaning.

Additionally, the warranty does not extend to products previously used as display models or products that have been modified or repaired by anyone else but Ella’s Bubbles, and does not apply to any failure resulting from negligence, abuse, misuse, misapplication, chemical corrosion, or improper maintenance. Relocation of the product or alteration and/or modification made of or to the product or system(s) will void the limited lifetime warranty.

Should service be required for any reason of defect or malfunction of the product, Ella’s Bubbles will ship the part to the original customer's address without charge (for the contiguous USA and Canada customers only), contingent on verification of the defect or malfunction. In order to verify the defect or malfunction, a photo and description of the issues must be presented to Ella’s representative. Ella’s Bubbles is not liable for any incidental expenses or material charges in connection with the removal or replacement of the product or parts. Delivery time is based on the part(s) availability and location, however, part(s) are generally sent out immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get the best seal between my tub and the bathroom wall?

The walk-in bathtub deck design is flat, allowing for the tile or wall panel to overlap the tile flange and the deck for a proper seal and to have enough distance between the controls and the wall. It is suggested to install the tile flange to the edge of the bathtub with 100% silicone before pushing the walk-in tub against the wall into the place. Any thin (1/8″ or 3/16″) rust-proof and waterproof material like acrylic, thin stainless steel, or fiberglass strip can be used as a tile flange. A tile flange can also be supplied by a contractor (available online). The strip can be approximately 5″ tall, just enough to be glued to the edge of the tub and overlap the edge by 2″ giving enough water barrier. Silicone-based caulking must be applied to joints.

Why are the faucets placed so far from the bather?

Faucets are positioned farther from the seat and closer to a small front access panel to gain maintenance access if needed. Also, the front of the tub deck is wider to allow the faucet installation. Ella walk-in bathtubs are designed with maximum interior space and comfort so the deck width is narrow, and faucets can be installed at the end of the tub. However, it is possible to order the bathtub with faucets not installed on the tub and custom placement of the faucets can be done by your contractor if desired.

Where’s the best place for the water lines for my tub?

Ella 2-Piece or 5-Piece fast fill faucets include two (2) five-foot long water supply lines, which must be connected to the shut off valves near the tub. Most non-Ella brand faucets may not include supply lines so please check the contents of your purchase. We recommend having ¾” water lines with shut off valves placed close to the tub for easy maintenance.

Do you have a touch up or repair kit for your tubs?

We do not, but our technical support team can assist you with directions and options.

Can I have additional grab bars installed onto my tub?

We pride ourselves on the strategic placement of our grab bars. Your safety is very important to us. However, if you feel you need extra grab bars, they would have to be attached to the walls surrounding your new tub, not onto your tub. Any modifications made to a tub not done by Ella’s Bubbles would void the warranty.

I’m concerned about hot water scalding, do you offer temperature controlled faucets?

Yes, we offer a Thermostatic Control Valve that can be simply adjusted by pressing a button and turning a knob. We recommend you consult with your plumber or installer regarding the best way to control the water temperature via thermostatic controls on the supply lines or at the water heater.

What is the Ambient Steam & Moisture Regulatory Temperature for your Walk In Tubs?

Our walk-in tubs with components will withstand ambient steam/moisture with temps of 130°F at times.

Can the handle on the Walk In Tub door be removed for installation?

If the door handle came installed on the tub, then it is not removable. A more effective option to reduce the tub width however, is to remove the tub door from the tub hinges.

Can you set a custom temperature for the In-Line Water Heaters?

The in-line water heater helps maintain the water temperature at a constant level while bathing, providing that the water tank can produce enough hot water. The in-line water heater maintains the temperature of the water in the tub as it works with the hydromassage pump. We recommend that you upgrade to the largest available 75-gallon water heater to ensure you have enough hot water. Please consult with a professional contractor to determine if your water tank can provide enough hot water for a walk-in bathtub..

What is the difference between Ella Acrylic Walk In Tubs and Gel Coat Walk In Tubs offered by other Brands? (Acrylic vs Gel Coat)?

The two most popular materials and manufacturing methods for walk-in bathtubs are gel coat and acrylic solid surface. Both varieties differ in price, appearance and overall quality.
Acrylic walk-in bathtubs are vacuum formed from a solid Acrylic / ABS sheet. The acrylic material is heated and stretched over a mold, resulting in a glossy white nonporous finish. The result is an easy to maintain tub, impermeable to mold. Acrylic offers a smooth surface and strong resistance to chipping, cracking, or fading. Once the acrylic walk-in bathtub shell is removed from the mold, it is reinforced with gel coated fiberglass, and placed onto a stainless-steel rustproof frame. Following this process, additional layers of gel coat fiberglass are added, bonding the shell and frame into one solid structure.

Gel coat fiberglass walk in tubs are derived from spray-resin and fiberglass particles, and then reinforced with additional fiberglass. The gel coat resin is sprayed onto the surface, forming a thin protective layer coating the inside filler.

In comparison to acrylic sheets, the porous surface of gel coats are more difficult to clean, demanding extra time and attention. With the build up of dirt and body oils, the surface becomes slippery over time. Additionally, acrylic tubs are less likely to fade in comparison to gel coat tubs due to color dispertion throughout the material. In contrast, the color of gel coat tubs only lies on the external surface layer, resulting in a more temporary lifespan. Acrylic walk in tubs are a recommended option for those who prefer a long lasting glossy white finish.

Can I place my walk-in tub in an alcove? Will it affect maintenance?

By placing the walk-in bathtub snugly into a 3 wall opening, it would create limited access for maintenance since the both ends of the tub will be enclosed. However, the removable front apron has access panels for maintenance purposes. Most Ella walk-in tubs come with one reversible end panel included for left or right corner installation. If you need to cover both ends as the tub is installed, please purchase an additional end panel.

Do walk-in tubs fill quickly? I’m worried about being cold while I’m waiting for water to fill up the tub. (Fast fill faucets, staying warm, wait time, cold seat)

Ella walk-in bathtubs feature fast-fill deck mount faucets, offering several advantages over regular bathtub faucets with slower fill times. These fast fill faucets are designed to maximize water flow, reducing loss of heat due to longer fill times. Ella’s Bubbles offers sleek and modern design faucets, adding to the overall look and feel of your bathroom. The Ella 2-piece 16 GPM fast fill faucet is perfect for walk-in tubs with less deck space and capacity. The Ella 5-piece 18 GPM faucet is perfect for standard or larger size walk-in tubs. Walk in tub fill time will range from 7 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the walk-in tub and the configuration of the water supply lines within the install location.

For more information, including videos and specifications, please visit our 2-piece and 5-piece fast fill faucet product pages. You will find our water capacity charts for selected walk-in tub models on designated walk-in tub category pages.

Ella 2-piece and 5-piece faucets include 5 feet long water supply lines.
GPM* – gallons per minute.

What size water heater should I get for my walk-in bathtub?(out of hot water, cold water, slow fill time, weak water pressure, not enough hot water)

There are multiple factors can affect the fill time and the water temperature:

  • The size of the walk-in tub (water capacity in gallons, occupied)
  • The water pressure in the house
  • The water supply piping size and configuration (1/2” vs ¾”)
  • The distance from walk-in tub to the water heater
  • The faucet of the walk-in tub (fast fill vs standard)
  • The efficiency and capacity of the water heater
  • Simultaneous operation of multiple plumbing fixtures

It is always recommended to upgrade the water heater to the larger size considering all factors. Each case is different. The average size walk-in tub usually requires replacement of existing smaller heater to 75 gallon or bigger water heater while Ella largest walk-in tubs like Ella ShaK or Big4Two might require dedicated large size water heater in addition to one in the house.

There are also available electrical and natural gas high efficiency tankless water heaters. Usually, tankless water heaters will offer slower fill time so it is strongly suggested to purchase the highest flow rate available – 11 GPM or higher. Example of tankless water heater: Rheem Performance Platinum 11 GPM Natural Gas High Efficiency Indoor Recirculating Tankless Water Heater Please consult with experienced professional contractor to make assessment of all factors and provide the best solution for water heater.

Aren’t powered drains faster and pump water out quicker? (Fast Drain, Quick Drain, Drain Pump vs. Ella Dual Drain Technology)

Yes, it does drain faster however while the hydro pump pushes the water through the drainage system faster it also applies lots of pressure to the walls and fittings of the house drainage system and can damage that especially if that is old or if there are some weak spots in the sealed joints. The electrical supply to pumps can fail and therefore can create situations where draining of the walk-in tub will be very slow or difficult.

Ella proprietary Dual Drain Technology is the best gravity-driven drain in the industry and it drains fast and reliably.

How long it will take to drain my walk-in bathtub? (About Ella Dual Drain Technology)

The draining time of the walk-in tub will depend on the water capacity of the tub, the complexity and condition of the house drain, and the walk-in tub drain. The approximate drainage time for average size Ella walk-in tub can be around 80 seconds at ideal house drain conditions. The Ella 4 port 2-inch dual drain can be connected to the existing 1 ½” or 2″ house drain with T or Y connector. Common connection to Ella dual drain is to two (2) out of 4 ports depending on the location of the house drain.

For example: if the house drain is located on the left side then the Ella walk-in tub should be selected with the right side drain, and the door with the seat on the left side so there is enough space to add a T or Y connector and needed piping. All four (4) 2″ ports (2” outlets) can be connected to the house drain for the fastest possible drainage (suggested). That will depend on access to the house drain. Please verify all drain connection options with your experienced contractor.

Please make sure your house drain is tested by an experienced plumber and is in good condition before installing the Ella walk-in tub.

Are Ella walk-in tubs easy to get in and out of? (Low threshold, Low Step-in Height. Easy in and easy out, comfort, convenience, safety)

Yes, all of Ella’s walk-in tubs have a low threshold, easy entry, making your bathing experience safer and more convenient for you and your loved ones.

Will the in-line water heater heat up the water and will it stay warm in my tub? (Water heater, heated seat, in-line water heater)

Ella brand walk-in tubs with the hydro jetting option will include an in-line water heater. The in-line water heater is designed to maintain the water temperature of the tub. The in-line heater will only heat the water while the whirlpool system is in use. If you have the whirlpool system running it will help maintain your bath’s temperature. It will not make your bath warmer or completely maintain temperature, but it will keep the water in your tub to stay at a consistent, comfortable temperature.

What about the doors? Are they easy to close? Will they be water-tight?(Watertight doors, easy to close, easy to open)

All of our doors have a durable integrated gasket that creates a tight, leak proof seal. Our u-shaped outward swing doors have a proprietary three shaft gear and lock mechanism and our wide L-shaped doors have a proprietary two shaft gear and lock mechanism. Our inward swing chrome and glass doors have a chrome locking handle that engages easily and secures your door firmly.

Which Walk-in tub will fit my home? (Best fit for my home, height, width, length, door, house, hallways, fit, bathroom)

Ella walk-in bathtubs are delivered as one unit. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure you correctly measure the width of your doorways from the main entrance all the way to the bathroom, including all the turning angles where you would need to carry your walk-in bathtub through the house into the bathroom.

What about safety? I have limited mobility and I’m worried about easy access to a bathtub. (Safety, ease of use, handicapped, limited mobility, ADA, seat height, easy in, easy out, low threshold)

Ella brand walk-in tubs are easy-in and easy-out with lots of safety features. All of our walk-in tubs have an extra low step in threshold and a textured tub floor for slip resistance. Plus the expertly designed placement of our grab bars helps keep you steady and secure as you enter and exit your tub. Our wide swing L-Shaped door opens with an extra wide opening making entry and exit to your tub effortless. This wide L shaped barrier-free design, allows bathers to easily sit or transfer from a wheelchair into a comfortable, wide molded seat.

What type of door should I get and should it be on the right or left side of the tub?(Door style, right side, left side door placement.)

The type of door you choose depends generally on the size of the room where you will be placing your tub. Outward swing doors require more room, but make it a little easier to enter the tub.

Inward swing doors are more stylish, are removable for easy tub cleaning and are better for a smaller bathroom. Always make sure that there’s enough clearance in your bathroom for an outward swing door. When choosing which side of the tub to choose to place your door, it primarily depends on the drain configuration of your house. Generally, a right side door will have the drain on the left and a left side door will have the drain on the right. Always consult with your installer as to which would suit you best.

Are walk-in bathtubs difficult to clean and maintain? (Maintenance, cleaning, additives)

Not at all. Periodically (approximately once a month) the walk-in bathtub should be filled with water and a few ounces of white vinegar. The air and hydro pumps should be turned on and run for about 10-15 minutes. This helps prevent any calcification. The tub will then need to be drained. It is not necessary to flush the tub after each use. Any stubborn stains or marks can be removed with denatured alcohol or an acrylic bathtub surface cleaning supplies found locally. Please visit the product page of your selected walk-in bathtub and view the installation and maintenance instructions under the “Downloads” tab.

Keep in mind that all of Ella’s Bubbles jetted walk-in tubs come with two automated ways of keeping your tub clean. The first is our eco-friendly ozone generator. When you run your tub’s hydro massage feature, natural ozone is generated to keep the tub fresh and clean for each use. Tubs with our three speed air massage feature come with Auto-Purge. 20 minutes after your bath, the auto-purge function will turn on and clear the tub’s air system of standing water. It does this automatically and will sound like the tub’s jets are running for two minutes.

Is there a weight or size limit for the seat in a walk-in tub? (Can I fit, body type, weight, height, bariatric)

If the customer can comfortably fit in the tub, the bathtub will hold the bather’s weight. We have many different sizes and shapes of walk-in tubs, so please have a look at our complete line of tubs and their specifications. We have several tubs that can accommodate bariatric bathers if that is an issue as well.

Aren’t all walk-in tubs similar in design? (Unique, features, proprietary, value, luxury)

No! Ella brand walk-in bathtubs have over 20 different model options. Our tubs have a wide range of door styles, overall size, jetting options, and other therapeutic options

What are the different benefits of Hydro massage, air massage and micro-bubbles? (Health benefits, circulation, muscles, joints, arthritis, circulation)

Larger bathers or bathers that have mobility challenges will specifically benefit from the 3 speed air massage with bidet jets that can be helpful with hard-to-reach places. Bathers who have circulatory issues such as diabetes, hypertension, or amputation may benefit from a hydro jetted walk-in tub with intensity control dial. The strategically placed jets massage the feet, legs, calves, hips and back, delivering an invigorating, relaxing experience. Bathers who have skin conditions may benefit from our Infusion microbubble feature. The microbubble system generates micro air bubbles into the water that are less than 50 microns. These microbubbles penetrate the first layer of skin and become a natural exfoliant. Some of our customers have told us that microbubble therapy has helped them with psoriasis and eczema, as well as leaving their skin feeling softer, more hydrated, and overall healthier.

How many gallons does it take to fill the tub? (Tub capacities, gallons, fill, drain)

Since Ella’s Bubbles has over twenty different models to choose from, the size of the tub you choose will determine how many gallons of water it takes to fill.

Is it possible to shower in a walk-in bathtub? (Safe showering, seated shower, standing shower, ADA, showers)

All of Ella’s fast fill faucet sets come with an extendable, multi function handshower, but we also offer a shower column kit that can be installed on your walk-in tub. This would allow you to either stand or sit and enjoy a shower safely. We have detailed instructions on how a shower column should be installed correctly to prevent leaks.A Shower Column Kit can be purchased and installed with any Ella fast-fill faucet.

Do your bathtubs come with a warranty? (Warranties, guarantee)

Yes, Ella’s Bubbles offers a limited lifetime warranty for parts* during the lifetime of the original customer, living at the address of installation. Additionally, lifetime technical support is included with the purchase of an Ella’s Bubbles bathtub.

Can you lie down in a walk-in tub? (Tub safety, lay down safely, sit comfortably and safely)

Walk-in bathtubs are specifically designed for seated bathing, therefore laying down in a walk-in bathtub is not recommended and could be hazardous. The comfortable reclining angle of our seats will allow for a relaxed seated position so the upper body can be immersed in the water. The length of the seat and the height of the bather will ultimately determine how far a person can recline. If a single bather uses one of our two seat tubs, then that bather could potentially put his or her feet up on the other seat to stretch out.

Can I enter the tub with water already in it? (accident, flood, flooding)

This is considered dangerous behavior and we do not recommend this. Since our tubs fill quickly in about 7 minutes with our 2 piece and 5 piece fast fill faucets and can be outfitted with heated seats and backrests, wait times are minimal and you’ll be able enjoy your warm bath quickly with minimal wait times.

Can I put epsom salts or bath bombs in my Ella’s walk-in tub? (Tub additives, bubble bath, aromas, scented oils, salts)

Yes. Epsom salts are fine for use with your walk-in tub and will not harm the jetting system. We do recommend that you rinse your tub after their use however.

Bath salts and bath bombs are not recommended as they may have long term effects on the mechanics of your walk-in tub, but they can be used. The potential harm to your jetted tub comes from the oils, dye, Confetti, glitter, and floral material that is sometimes added to bath bombs. They should be used sparingly, and the tub should be thoroughly rinsed after use.

How do you clean and prevent mildew or build up of bacteria in a Walk In Tub? (Maintenance, cleaning, tub care, durability, care)

The Pump Circulation System needs to be flushed and drained before using an Ella’s Walk-in Bathtub for the first time. To flush the bathtub, combine 2 cups of white vinegar and 2 cups of water. Then, fill the bathtub with water to reach an inch above the highest jets. Add the vinegar/water mixture, and run the bathtub for 10 minutes. Since the air and hydro system are plumbed, it is not necessary to flush after each bath.

More stubborn debris may be removed with denatured alcohol. It is recommended that the pump’s inlet cover is cleaned and the pump circulation system is flushed once a month. You can clean the pump’s inlet cover by clearing debris, such as hair, followed by wiping it down using a non abrasive towel and a suggested cleaning material

On the 3 Speed Air Massage, which speed comes first? Is it high to low, or low to high? (Air massage, bubbles, air bubbles, air jets)

The first time you push the air massage button, it will be high speed. The second push is medium speed, the third, low speed and finally one more push shuts the system off.

Do you offer Ella’s Bubbles Alcove Walk In Tubs? (House, bathroom, sizes, fit)

All of our walk-in tubs can be placed into a 3-wall alcove. Our tubs can also be installed against one or two walls as a free standing unit. Our walk-in tub models will come with a reversible end panel that is used to cover the end of the tub that is exposing the walk-in tub shell. An additional end panel can be ordered if your tub will be installed against the wall with both ends exposed to give it a completed look.
